Job summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced, professional, and motivated Assistant Finance Business Partner at GWH. This is a key role in finance that is paramount to the success of both finance and the Divisions they are responsible for. The post holder is expected to work at a high level in the organisation demonstrating credibility with the Divisional Management teams, Head of Service and Clinicians at all levels.

Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, this role will play an important role in all areas of monthly financial management information produced and will ensure an effective and efficient service of financial information is offered to the directorate and wider teams.

Main duties of the job

This is an important role that is key to the success of both the Divisions and the organisation. The post holder is expected to work at a high level in the organisation demonstrating credibility with the Divisional Management teams, Head of Service and Clinicians at all levels.

Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the post holder has the following key areas of responsibility:-

  • Preparing and submitting a monthly Management Accounts Pack to the Finance Business Partner and to budget holders, together with a commentary to accompany monthly management accounts.
  • Designing, producing and maintaining budget reports and other spreadsheet based reports and models in accordance with agreed timetables and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Preparing monthly variance reports for specific departments within a Directorate, investigating any variances from the plan and identifying mitigation strategies.
  • Meeting regularly with budget holders and providing information and analysis to them regarding their budgets.

  • 1st degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • CCAB fully qualified accountant with minimum 2 years post qualification experience in financial management within a large organisation and a member of a professional body

Experience

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of current NHS agenda and challenges and the NHS and its financial regime
  • Working with clinicians and obtaining trust and co-operation despite often difficult messages to be delivered
  • Advising on the management of large complex budgets and of providing financial advice to non-financial managers in a clearly understood and authoritative manner
  • Expert knowledge of management accounting techniques and relevant Financial Reporting Standards

Desirable

  • Evidence of working in a Foundation Trust.

  • Excellent analytical and technical accountancy skills
