The Trust and The Thames Valley Cancer Alliance (TVCA) are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated RDS Pathway Improvement Manager. As part of the Alliance and Trust team, you will be responsible for supporting the work of the TVCA/Trusts RDS implementation programme, with a specific focus on improving earlier and faster diagnosis.

This is an exciting time for both the Trust and the TVCA. The publication of the Long-Term Plan for the NHS provides us with an opportunity to progress the work of the Cancer Alliance in supporting Trusts in improving earlier and faster diagnosis of cancer and in this instance, onward referral of non-cancer symptoms where identified.

Main duties of the job

As the RDS Pathway Improvement Manager, the post holder will work as part of a capable and dynamic team to deliver the priorities set out in the NHS Long-Term Plan alongside recovering cancer services from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The post holder will work extensively with internal and external stakeholders, therefore an understanding of healthcare delivery across systems is essential and cancer specific knowledge an advantage, however, not essential. This main aim of this role is the implementation of the 7 key principles of an RDC.

About us

You will be flexible, approachable, creative and dynamic. You should be able to work autonomously, to tight deadlines and also in partnership with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders within a fast paced and demanding environment.

You must have excellent communication, analytical report writing and presentation skills. You must be a skilled project/improvement manager, with robust project management experience including previous experience of delivering significant change in complex environments.

You will be officially based on site however in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic will be able to work from home on a flexible basis as agreed, hence we are flexible on location, noting the candidate would be required to travel as and when needed to. When safe to do so, the post-holder will be required to travel to trusts or meetings within the Thames Valley region as agreed with the TVCA RDS Implementation Programme Manager (TVCA) and Lyndel Moore Cancer Services Manager.
