An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented, ambitious and dynamic senior nurse to join the Critical Care Team at the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as their Modern Matron.
The Intensive Care Unit consists of a 12 bedded ITU / HDU Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit where we pride ourselves on being at the cutting edge of innovation and service development. The Intensive Care Unit also operates a 24/7 Critical care Outreach Service supporting patients throughout the hospital as well as supporting teaching and training.
As an Intensive Care Unit we specialise in providing a high standard of medical and post-operative care for patients undergoing a variety of procedures. The majority of our admissions are medical covering Level 2 and Level 3 types of care for organ / system support such as respiratory, renal and cardiovascular support.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a critical care background, evidence of wider experience at a senior nurse level, and experience of managing complex workloads and areas.
The Post holder will be responsible for effective clinical and operational management within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care outreach and will support the Divisional Director of Nursing to drive the strategic direction of the service, ensuring business plans, budgets, workforce and staff development are in place to deliver quality of service for the division and the Trust.
The Post holder will working collaboratively with exceptional and established clinical leaders to support the delivery of safe and effective patient care. You will be an expert practitioner who will advise, work alongside and supervise clinical staff within our ICU team to support and develop individuals in their day to day practice with a focus on the critical care needs of patients and staff.
