Job summary

Due to continued expansion in the Community Response Training Team we are looking to appoint a Community Response Training Officer on a full time basis, who will be responsible for the delivery of high quality pre-hospital care training to volunteers. This will require extensive experience in a related field.

This role will primarily support blue light collaboration with members of the Fire & Rescue Service, Military and other uniformed services. As such you will work regionally across the east of England but can be based anywhere with home working if not delivering training.

The suitable candidate will be an experienced trainer, self-motivated, comfortable with lone working, well organised, resourceful with excellent people skills.

A full UK Driving Licence is essential (a maximum of 3 points for minor motoring offences only will be considered).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the teaching of high-quality health, welfare and safety education and training programmes to the Trust's Community First Responders (CFRs). The post holder will be involved in designing and delivering training packages to CFRs for both induction and monthly update training session as well as supervising a group of volunteer trainers within an area of the Trust.

Courses to be taught will include BLS, AED, FutureQuals First Response on Scene, Moving and Handling and monthly update subjects, along with moving and handling.

Course Leading, Lesson Planning and Course Design and Preparation are integral requirements of the role.

Job responsibilities

Communications and Engagement

Deliver learning using a variety of styles and methodologies, adapted to the needs of the learners, to stimulate and sustain learner motivation and engagement.

  1. Demonstrate clinical skills and the correct use of equipment for within programmes offering best practice to students in applicable techniques using current best practice.
  2. Plan and prepare teaching plans and materials for work-based courses ensuring high quality of content, delivery and methodology whilst fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  3. Undertake practical and theory assessment for students on programmes. Assess students competence and determine whether students have been successful. Identify remedial action required and propose options to students to develop gaps in learning and performance. Providing administrator with accurate learner records.
  4. Responsible for servicing and safekeeping of training equipment.
  5. Responsible for own continued professional development and the development and practise of others through internal quality assurance process.
  6. Create and maintain effective working and learning environments, ensuring a safe and secure educational experience that improves health safety and security.
  7. Travel throughout the trust will be required and the post holder will be expected to undertake training across the region as required by the needs of the business.
  8. There will be evening and week-end work requirements depending on operational demand.
  9. Work with the Commercial Training Team to help deliver training to members of public as the workload requires
  10. Respond at trained level and in line with Scope of Practice to emergency call while not training to help maintain medical skills

  1. To provide the Senior Commercial Training Officer with regular reports on training activity, including issues and risks.

People and Finance

  1. Managing complex and sensitive issues raised by delegates to avoid negative impact on their training.
  2. Work with the Community Response Manager to ensure relevant and correct training and information is passed to CFRs.

Strategic and Service Development

  1. To maintain current knowledge relevant to community training programmes, policies, and legislation. Propose suggested amendments to policy and/or practice to line manager.
  2. Assist with the development of new training programmes to respond to new Trust requirements and changes to policies.

Leadership and Management

  1. When acting as Course Lead, ensure compliance, safety and success delivery for learners and tutors.
  2. Coordinate the training of a group of volunteer trainers and assist them in deliver training to CFRs.
  3. Perform annual quality checks on volunteer trainers during one of their training sessions.
  4. To positively promote an environment that incorporates a culture of equality and diversity.
  5. To be responsible for the IQA and supervising of the volunteer trainers for the quality of monthly training.
