Job summary

Responsible for the effective and efficient mobilisaiton and direction of significant or unusual incidents in conjunction with the EOC Duty Manager and Duty Tactical Commander. Responsible for HART deployment across the regional in linewith current deployment protocol's. Be a point of expertise within the duty team for major / significant incident management and provide line communication link between EOC and specialist ops teams

Main duties of the job

This is a busy role, but one that offers an excellent sense of achievement. This opportunity places you at the very forefront of incident management within a control room setting.

About us

The Tactical Operations (TOC) centre consists of a small but dedicated and highly effective team.

You will be given the opportunity to learn from ICD and Duty Tactical commanders and encouraged to rise to all challenges and opportunities.

As an ICD supervisor you will undergo Operational Commander training.

  • Responsible for the monitoring and processing of emergency 999 calls from the general public. Analysing a patients conditionandsituation to obtain an appropriate AMPDS category and relevant specialist ambulance response determinant code.

  • To provide a liaison role between the Command Structure in the event of a major Incident

  • Provide team expertise in Major Incident preparedness. Ensure that the whole team are current with procedures relating to extraordinary events

Essential

  • Knowledge of dealing with major incidents
  • Knowledge of CBRN and HAZMAT incident procedures
  • Understanding of role and responsibilities of the post
  • Knowledge of performance standards
  • Knowledge of the local geographical area

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English
  • Experience of supervising / managing staff

Experience

  • Significant experience post training experience working within an ambulance service or similar control type of environment.
  • Experience of supervising/managing staff

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work in a pressurised, stressful & busy environment.
  • The ability to remain calm whilst maintaining a courteous, caring, professional attitude when dealing with people in an emergency situation
  • Excellent communication skills, empathetic, tactful and diplomatic

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and use own initiative
