Job summary

The East of England Ambulance Trust (EEAST) is looking for a Deputy Head of Practice Development to join us in an emergent role within the Strategy, Culture and Education Directorate. This is an exciting time to join the Trust, as we are now progressing a holistic education and development methodology for our existing staff and future workforce. Please note, this position forms a substantive opportunity across the East of England region.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced clinician, leader and educator who is passionate about improving our service and processes - both capability and quality. The successful candidate will lead on, and be accountable for, the delivery of a safe, quality, progressive and effective educational provision. This primarily relates to practice development for specialist, enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice, augmented with the delivery of complex clinical practice placements across multiple academic pathways.

About us

This will encompass both pre- and post-registration learners, and experienced clinicians (ie. specialist, enhanced, advanced, and consultant level practice). This includes managing the staff support, supervision and development programme and working with the Clinical Directorate to deliver resuscitation, urgent and critical care pathways across the Trust. The role will also nurture the academic development within this growing staff group, ensuring access to continual professional development and driving forward academic and clinical standards across the workstreams.

  • Effective HCPC registration or equivalent NMC registration, and outside of any preceptorship period.
  • Level 6 qualification in Paramedic Science, or current level 5 equivalent, and to achieve level 6 within 3 years of appointment, or previous relevant experience demonstrable at level 6.
  • Level 5 or 6 Mentoring/Practice Education (PEd) qualification and applied demonstrable experience.
  • Level 7 Master's Degree in a teaching, training and education-related subject, and applied demonstrable experience within the clinical/medical/health care sector, or relevant Postgraduate Level 7 demonstratable experience and to achieve full Master's Degree within 3 years of appointment.
  • Recognised managerial and clinical leadership qualification and applied demonstrable experience.
  • Recognised quality assurance qualification (ie IQA, EQA), or previous relevant demonstrable experience.
  • Recognised assessment/verifier qualification (ie CAVA, TAQA), or previous relevant demonstrable experience.
  • Recognised practitioner or instructor qualification with active currency (ie Resus Council UK, RCSEd, FPHC, ATACC).
