Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate, reflective, and resilient Assistant Psychologist to join our Community Therapies team within the Older People's Service at Chatterton House, King's Lynn.
Working under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists, the Assistant Psychologist will support psychological assessment and intervention. This includes contributing to the development and sharing of clinical formulations across services, as well as co-facilitating group interventions.
The role also involves assisting in the creation, adaptation, and delivery of self-help and psychologically informed materials. In addition, the post holder will support the use of outcome measures to inform clinical practice, audit processes, and service evaluation.
The overall aim of the role is to enhance the quality of psychological care provided across the Directorate. This includes delivering assessments and interventions under supervision, working both collaboratively and independently within agreed care plans, and adhering to team policies and procedures.
The post holder will also contribute to clinically related administration, teaching, and project work.
Main duties of the job
- To carry out protocol-based psychological assessments of patients, including neuropsychological tests, self- report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi- structured interviews with patients and others involved in their care, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
- To support and co-facilitate therapeutic group interventions (e.g. CBT, and DBT informed groups), in collaboration with psychology and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- To contribute psychological perspectives within multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate to the role.
- To support qualified psychology and psychotherapy staff in the planning and delivery of psychologically informed training for staff working within or alongside acute services.
- To administer, collate and input clinical and service related data, including routine outcome measures, to support audit, service evaluation and research activity.
- Where required and appropriate, to prepare psychology reports, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
- Where required and appropriate, to attend and contribute to appropriate multi- disciplinary meetings.
- To maintain the highest of standards of research governance, ethical practice and data protection.
- Where directed, to assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects within the Directorate
