Job summary
We are looking for a motivated Activity Worker who wants to champion on Recovery focussed, client centred and least restrictive practice in our adult acute mental health inpatient services at Hellesdon Hospital. The suitable candidate will work within a supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver clinically effective pathways of treatment and intervention. This will include individual and groupwork, and will practice clinically across our 3 male ward, 2 female wards and in the female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
You will be part of a Therapy team which aims is to maintain, restore or create a match between the abilities of the person, the demands of their activities and occupations, and the demands of the environment in order to improve function, promote independence and enhance opportunities for meaningful participation in daily life, whilst working alongside and cooperatively with a skilled MDT.
Main duties of the job
All of our wards benefit from a full MDT who seek to offer evidence-based interventions to enhance recovery, reduce the length of admission, and enhance the person's mental health. The team will greatly value your own unique perspective and contribution and you will be given opportunity and support to champion this role.
You will be based within the therapy team and managed by an Occupational Therapist, however will be working autonomously to lead and facilitate a wide range of leisure 1-1s or groups mainly on the ward, but also in the hospital grounds or local area on occasions. You will need to bring your interests, hobbies and passions to work within our team to deliver a wide range of meaningful activities. You will need to plan, risk assess, facilitate and record these interventions. You will be encouraged to work closely with the Occupational Therapist to reflect and evaluate these interventions.
