Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a Nurse Consultant with specialist knowledge of older person inpatient care for both organic and functional illness.

Providing expert clinical leadership, education, and research to improve the care of older adults within a hospital environment. This role involves collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care, develop staff, and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Undertake clinical assessment, diagnosis and prescribing of medicines for people under the care of inpatient services.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

Providing expert advice and guidance to the multidisciplinary team on best practices for older adult care, including assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.

Education and Development:

Delivering training and mentorship to nurses and other healthcare professionals on the specific needs of older adults, including dementia care, falls prevention, and management of complex conditions.

Research and Innovation:

Participating in research activities to improve patient outcomes and contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.

Service Development:

Identifying areas for improvement in the older person's inpatient service and working with the team to implement changes that enhance the quality of care.

Collaboration:

Working closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, therapists, and social workers, to ensure a coordinated and patient-centered approach to care.
