Job summary

The Suffolk Wellbeing Service is part of the national accredited IAPT initiative. The aim of this is to increase mental health access to those living in Suffolk aged 16 and above who are experiencing mild to moderate levels of anxiety and depression. The service works in conjunction with Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) by providing low and high intensity mental health care to the local population.Suffolk Wellbeing are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Peer Mentor Band 4 working alongside our Band 3 Peer Mentors.The posts will be based in either Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds, but travel will be required as part of the role to work across Suffolk This is a full-time post. Working hours are between 8am and 8pm and could involve some weekend work.

Main duties of the job

You will manage and support a team of Peer Mentors as well as carry a caseload of your own. Good leadership qualities are required including compassion and understand when managing a team whose role includes sharing their own lived experience of mental health. You will be responsible for Case Management Supervision as well as individual supervision.

More specifically, successful applicants will need to possess and demonstrate a high level of skill in the following areas:

  • Ability to demonstrate resilience when working with individuals that are experiencing varying levels of emotional distress.
  • Able to adapt to change.
  • Ability to provide strong and supportive leadership
  • Ability to recognise the needs of your teams wellbeing
  • Ability and confidence to deliver presentations in-house as well as in the community.
  • Confident to deliver training to new members of the team
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude.
  • Good administration and IT skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills relating to the number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out each week.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills relating to team supervisions
  • Capacity to work under pressure.
  • High level of enthusiasm and self-motivation.
