Key Responsibilities:

  • Support to Chair and NEDs: The Corporate Governance Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Chair and NEDs in their day-to-day duties.

  • Governance and Compliance:You will be responsible for maintaining and interpreting the Trust Constitution, advising on national guidance, and supporting the implementation of best practice governance standards. This includes ensuring compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2012, NHS England guidance, and the NHS Foundation Trust Code of Governance

  • Council of Governors: The role involves advising the Council of Governors and its committees on governance matters, ensuring meetings are conducted in line with the Trust's regulatory framework, and providing professional advice and support to enable governors to carry out their statutory duties effectively

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key external stakeholders is a key part of this role.

Main duties of the job

The Corporate Governance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring robust and effective governance across the Trust. This position provides essential support to the Chair and Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), ensuring they are well-briefed and have timely access to relevant information. Key responsibilities include:

  • Council of Governors: Advise the Council of Governors and its committees on governance matters, ensuring meetings are conducted in line with the Trust's regulatory framework. Support governors in fulfilling their responsibilities, including induction, training, and development plan

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders. Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure consistent and aligned messaging to stakeholders on key issue

  • Team Leadership: Line manage and support the development of Governance Officers and the Membership Officer. Ensure effective support is provided to the Chair and NEDs, with clear prioritisation of workload and timely delivery of outputs

This role requires a highly organized and proactive individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex and high-volume workloads. The Corporate Governance Manager will be confident in drafting accurate and timely reports and briefings, able to work independently to tight deadlines, and comfortable adapting to changing priorities.
