Job summary

We are looking for an aspiring leader to join our dedicated team at the Dragonfly Unit as our Ward Manager. CAMHS experience would be especially welcome as would having a knowledge of attachment, child development and working systemically to ensure a safe, caring, responsive and high-quality service is provided to support our young people, their families and carers, however training is ongoing and would be provided if required.

This is an exciting time for the unit in its aspiration to be rated as Excellent by the CQC, we are currently rated Good across all areas.

The ward manager will work closely alongside the Matron/Operational lead and Multi-disciplinary team supporting quality improvement and service delivery. Visible leadership is paramount to promote a values-based culture and acting as a role model to create and establish a caring environment. The Ward Manager is responsible for the management of a range of aspects of service delivery within the team and for clinical/managerial supervision of professional staff according to trust values by ensuring compliance with Statutory and Regulatory requirements and Trust Policies, pathways, standard operating procedure and protocols.

We would like individuals to be well motivated, have good interpersonal skills, personal resilience, and an enthusiasm for working with children and their families whilst they are going through a difficult and stressful period in their lives, in terms of their mental health and well-being.

As part of our ongoing strive for excellence we are developing a 'care team' approach patient centred care.You will provide support and advice to the multidisciplinary inpatient team and assess the occupational and vocational needs of service users enabling them to develop independent living skills and work towards individual recovery and vocational goals.

It can be a challenging environment at times, so we need clinicians with a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and a hands-on approach. It is vital that the clinician is reflective around issues of power and difference, see the importance of working across systems, and can do that effectively.

  • Ongoing professional development working towards degree level.
  • Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice

  • ILM certificate in management or equivalent

Experience

  • Able to demonstrate experience at a senior clinical level including some staff management/supervision experience.
  • Experience of working within a multi disciplinary team
  • Evidence of providing leadership in a Mental Health care environment including service development.
  • Experience with risk assessment and ongoing management.
