Job summary

We are one of the first eating disorder services in the East of England to develop a mini-team focused solely on the treatment of children and young people with Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). This team will be integrated within the existing under 18s eating disorders service in Norfolk and Waveney. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of this new service as a Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced, preferably with experience of working with young people and their families but experience with young adults or adults with eating disorders is also relevant. The successful applicant will be required to work within national guidelines but also to have strong skills in formulation and formulation-driven intervention, and team working.

The base is Northgate hospital, but travel to other sites will be required.

Main duties of the job

This post will support our multi-disciplinary team to complete assessments and deliver individual and group work within community settings. This role gives opportunity for development of skills and expertise in a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

You will be supported within the team by senior clinicians and will work closely with other specialists within the service. Clinical supervision and professional leadership will be provided.There are excellent opportunities for professional development within team through supervision, training, team CPD and wider Specialist Services and Trust events.To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist psychology service to individuals, carers, families, and groups, within and across teams, and to provide an active contribution to service development of the ARFID pathway.To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.To use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.

Essential

  • Post-graduate degree(or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996)in clinicalpsychology, accredited by BPS
  • Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions (assessment and / or therapist)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist (Band 7) and able to evidence appropriate knowledge and experience in practice to enable the post holder to clinically supervise trainee clinicalpsychologist
  • Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems, in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
