Job summary
This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join older adults' community mental health team in Ipswich as an assistant practitioner. You will be part of a psychologically minded and highly performing multidisciplinary team of clinicians with strongly embedded values of working together. You will be responsible for delivering biopsychosocial interventions under the Recovery Model. You will work with older adults with dementia and functional conditions. You will be required to have a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care/Mental Health at L5 or Degree in Psychology or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
With the support of the team you will work with services users and carers to provide a range of interventions in a planned way such as behavioural activation, graded exposure, and psychosocial approaches to manage behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
You will take part in ongoing assessments of the service users with the multidisciplinary team.
You will be a lead professional for a small number of service users who are not under the Care Program Approach. This will involve assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating service users' needs.
You will participate in and contribute to weekly psychological team formulations.

You will be accountable and work autonomously within the clearly defined boundaries of the Assistant Practitioner competencies and carry out specific delegated tasks. This may include extended roles delegated by a registered professional.

These principles will recognise the need to promote safe practice; value the beliefs and aims of service users and carers; work in partnership and offer meaningful choice; and value social inclusion.
