As the Head of the busy Chair and CEO office for a large mental health Trust, the post holder will provide day to day support to the Chair and CEO with all aspects of public affairs and external stakeholder management, working alongside our Communication Team. The successful candidate will have previous experience in the NHS or other public sector organisations, operating with sensitivity, political acumen, flexibility, credibility and high degree of organisation and planning.

This is certainly an ideal time to join NSFT, an organisation currently in special measures, but with an improved CQC inspection and with our Board and senior leadership actively shaping the future strategy, vision for change and delivering a comprehensive improvement programme with our system partners bringing about real benefits for our service users, carers, staff and local communities.

Our Chair Zoe Billingham and CEO Stuart Richardson are ambitious for NSFT, making changes at pace that are long lasting and sustainable. Your role will support them in their strategic and operational roles.

Main duties of the job

As Head of Chair and Chief Executive's Office, you will work closely to the Deputy Chief Executive, Chief Executive and the Chair, with responsibility for day to day running of the office, supporting the coordination of external facing functions, public affairs and building and maintaining close relationships with key external stakeholders.

You should be an excellent communicator, who can work at pace to support these busy offices in managing high volumes of information effectively, prioritising and actioning work on their behalf, whilst ensuring an effective business planning and support function is always provided. The role will be responsible for producing reports and briefings, ensuring these are accurate and up to date. You will work closely with the communications team and the Trust Secretariat to ensure consistent narratives are presented to all external stakeholders on key themes.

You should have the initiative to respond flexibly as required to changing priorities and the ability to work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

You will ensure the Deputy Chief Executive, Chief Executive and Chair have timely access to all relevant information and briefings as required.
