Job summary

Do you want to work with a friendly, motivated, caring and experienced MDT who strive to provide NICE compliant autism diagnostic assessments for young people with their families in Suffolk. We want to improve on our waiting times for young people, to avoid delays. We are looking to recruit a skilled registered Occupational Therapist with experience of working with young people or adults, who may have autism and/or other complex conditions or disabilities.

Main duties of the job

Undertaking interesting complex assessments and sharing formulations. You will have the ability to work flexibly to manage the complexities relating to the significant age range of young people we work with, age 11-17. You will enjoy working with others, sharing views and being constructive and supportive with families, schools and other team members, incorporating a whole systems approach.The team will be able to consult with you and gain knowledge and support from your skills and experience.

As part of the MDT you will enjoy preparing diagnostic reports to inform others of the needs of young people we see. Their parents/care givers and schools will benefit from your advice and young people themselves should gain better understanding of their needs with signposting to post diagnostic services.

About us

The CQC rated our service as 'Good' in January 2020.

The team covers the whole of Suffolk with an office base in Stowmarket. Your role will enhance the existing resources and skills in the team provided by Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language therapists, Assistant Practitioners, a Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker and Medical colleagues.

The team also provides a learning environment to facilitate professional development, we attract training posts from the UEA Clinical Psychology course. We would also welcome OT students under your supervision. You would be supported through the Trust Management and Clinical Supervision structure, as well as the MDT.

  • HCPC Registration
  • Demonstrable knowledge relating to the assessment and treatment of Auistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or equivalent assessment skills

Desirable

  • Post registration specialist training in autism diagnostic tools i.e. ADOS

Skills

  • Able to communicate effectively with a range of individuals, clients, professionals and organisations
  • Experience of working to maintain and promote the safety of vulnerable children and families
  • Ability to demonstrate good analytical and reflection skills
