The Walker Close team are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to work across the LD and A Inpatient Assessment and Treatment Unit and the LD and A Intensive support team (IST)

You will be joining a friendly, motivated and enthusiastic team who are on their journey to outstanding having already been rated as good by the CQC across all domains. The wards and IST form the acute service for learning disability and autism and work with people admitted to hospital and with people in the community to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions or providing transitional support between services. The acute teams are part of a wider specialist service who all work closely together to create a seamless approach for the clients and their families. Staff can benefit from this close working relationship with the potential for rotational roles between teams.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely with our fabulous Community occupational therapists in keeping with our 'team around the patient' model and as well as working directly with both the inpatient and IST teams,

Ideally the successful candidate will be passionate and experienced in maintaining, restoring or creating a match between the abilities of the person, the demands of their activities and occupations, and the demands of the environment in order to improve function, promote independence and enhance opportunities for meaningful participation in daily life, whilst working alongside and cooperatively with a skilled MDT.

We invest heavily in training, provide first class support, promote collaborative teamwork and give everyone in our team the opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential. The teams are updating their Positive Behaviour Support skills with the British Institute for Learning Disability (BILD) and enjoy other training such as Makaton as part of a wide selection of subjects delivered at our monthly protected days. You will be joining the team which will involve taking part in the ward QI projects and working towards improving patient care.
