Job summary

Hi, I'm Carla and I am the Community Team Manager for the South Norfolk Youth Service. I am delighted to be recruiting to a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist within:

South Norfolk Youth Services for young people aged between 14-25 years old.

This post is open to newly qualified Psychologists, on the understanding that the post will be rated at band 7, until completion of preceptorship.

What else?

We to inspire people by positively influencing and driving change. As a Clinical Psychologist you will be delivering psychological interventions; to help develop clear psychological thinking and promote evidence based and reflective practice in teams.

You would provide intervention as early as possible in a troubled or vulnerable young person's life and to prevent the problems from recurring.Your work will include parents, teachers, and other professionals, to build families' capacity to manage mental health problems.

You will also draw on your clinical training in adult psychology, forensic mental health, and the psychology of systems as well as child and family mental health.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology, accredited by BPS
  • Ongoing further specialist training/accredited short courses
  • Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)

Desirable

  • Theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions (assessment and / or therapies)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist (Band 7) and able to evidence appropriate knowledge and experience in practice to enable the post holder to clinically supervise trainee clinical psychologist
  • Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems, in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
  • Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment.

Desirable

  • Experience of representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts)

Skills

Essential

  • Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Able to effectively communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals, within and outside NHS.
  • Skills in neuropsychological assessment.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Doctor level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical context.
  • Evidence of CPD as recommended by BPS

Desirable

  • Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical settings and service-user groups
