Job summary

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am the Community Team Manager for the North community team within Children, Family and Young People's services here at NSFT. Having relocated to Norwich I wanted to share my experience so that you will consider a move into this new role within the Youth Service, which is a great introduction to management whilst retaining a caseload.

It is always difficult to move to a new area and to a new team. I have received a really warm welcome and have been really impressed to be given the opportunity to make a difference, to put my own spin on things and the role has been moulded to suit me and my skill set.

The Youth teams are strong and credible, we have a friendly team atmosphere where ideas are welcomed and explored. We are creating the conditions to embrace change whilst always ensuring the basics. We work hard to ensure that from the very moment people access our services to the moment they leave their care will be outstanding.

A role which will challenge your thinking, expand your knowledge and connect with your heart. There are 2 posts based in Norwich, one for the North team and one for the South team.

The job description is currently going through job evaluation so subject to change.

Main duties of the job

We really understand the dilemma of wanting to progress your career but wanting to retain a manageable caseload and have a safe space to develop leadership skills. We have created this role with exactly this in mind.

60% of your time will still be spent on clinical duties holding a reduced caseload whilst the other 40% will be spent carrying out management responsibilities. You will directly manage around 5 members of the team and will get the opportunity to get involved in management decisions as part of the multi-disciplinary leadership team.

We have created this role for anyone (either in current band 6 or looking to step up from a band 5) who wants to learn about the management side of the role but also wants to retain a caseload. It is an opportunity for those who are may be unsure of how their career will develop and we will offer support to those entering management for the first time to give you all the skills and tools you need.

Whilst experience working with children and young people would make you perfectly suited to this role, we are really open to welcoming people from clinical backgrounds who have experience in other areas of mental health.

We are looking for a dedicated mental health professional with either Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy qualification. We would love to hear from you if you have experience in working with people who suffer with mental health difficulties.

About us

We want you in our team if you share our values and core beliefs. If you want to work in an environment of mutual respect, transparency, integrity and collaborative working we are the team for you.

We are looking for people to join us with enthusiasm, optimism, fresh ideas and energy. We will expect you to want to work clinically but be equally as comfortable being part of strategic decision making.

We are an improving Trust, with ambitious aspirations and pushing ahead with exciting transformation work. We have strong, established nursing networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for.

I had not realised how beautiful Norfolk was until I moved here. The people are warm and welcoming and I've found some amazing restaurants in Norwich. I have felt the benefits to my wellbeing living in such a beautiful part of the county.

There will be so many things you don't know or don't always hear about Norfolk. Norwich is vibrant, diverse, quirky and original but only a stone's throw from the sea, the rugged countryside and the beautiful beaches.
