"NSFT CFYP service basically tore up the rule book and asked young people what they wanted. The result is a very interesting service which is truly patient-centred." Wendy Burn, RCPsych President

We are pleased to invite prospective applicants to apply for a position to work in our CAMHS Ipswich team working within our pioneering Children, Families and Young People's (CFYP) Services.

Less than 2 hours from London (yet a world away in terms of house prices and cost of living) and serviced by excellent transport links, Norwich is one of few UK cities that still retain a strong local identity and with that a strong sense of community - people walk down the street and say hello to each other, baristas remember our coffee order, you get to know about interesting local projects.

This strong sense of self along with excellent shopping, eating out, affordable house prices and excellent schooling is why Suffolk is great place to work and live.

Don't just take our word for it, come visit us, meet the team and see why our trainees come and stay and how we invest in our people.

Main duties of the job

Our CFYP services continue to thrive and innovate. We led the way nationally by developing the first 0-25 specialist service in the UK. The Suffolk CFYP service is unique and aspires to address the issues for children and young people's mental health and wellbeing from 0-25. Over the past 24 months we've benefitted from investment, expansion and growth in existing and new services such as:

  • Early Intervention in Psychosis
  • Eating Disorders
  • Neurodevelopmental services
  • Under 18 Crisis Pathway Development
  • Mental health in schools' teams

You will join a service with highly skilled colleagues and a compelling vision of services for children, families and young people. You will need to be committed and able to collaborate and share skills and expertise with an established multi-disciplinary team, all who have a passion for high quality care to meet the needs of the children, families and young people across Suffolk

The 0-25 service is unique and aspires to address the needs of children and young people and remove the barriers and transitions in services. We work with our local partners to respond to the pressures in the system and with a supportive and compassionate senior leadership team they will encourage you to develop innovative ideas for quality improvement making our services safer and focused on the needs of children and young people.

About us

We can offer a unique opportunity to balance your life with your work and have a voice which is truly heard. We take a flexible approach to working, working from home is easy to arrange and we understand that other aspects of life can conflict with more traditional working hours.

Creative thinking is encouraged. The expectation we have is for all our Consultants to work autonomously and to think about how the service can continue to improve, we have a can-do culture.

We will inspire you and support you to achieve your very full potential. This could be talking at international conferences, pursuing additional areas of study and research or developing your leadership skills to be one of leaders of the future.

We are also offering

  • Up to £12k relocation expenses
  • Access to £800 per annum professional development budget
  • Dedicated SPA time of up to 25% of working hours
  • Paid study leave (on application and approval) in addition to CPD
  • Potential of extra PA for DCC with requisite pay per PA
  • Ability to apply for Clinical Excellence Awards
  • Inclusion on the Consultant on-call rota for the higher level with 3%, 5% or 8% requisite pay depending on frequency
  • NHS benefits package including contributory pension, redundancy. Including paid annual leave, sick leave and maternity leave.
  • Appraisals and revalidation completed by the Trust
