Job summary

The People Participation Coordinator will provide lived experience and participation expertise within the Norfolk and Waveney Children, Families and Young People's (CFYP) Community Mental Health Services. This dynamic new role will focus on the development of new service models and contribute to the quality improvement of existing services for people using our services and their families, through the facilitation and co-ordination of meaningful participation activities. Working both within NSFT and the wider Norfolk and Waveney System, under the leadership of the Norfolk & Waveney Children, Families and Young People's People Participation Lead, the People Participation Coordinator would work directly with children, young people and their families.

This post will be a Band 5, permanent full-time post, working across Norfolk and Waveney, supporting system wide participation.The post holder will work as an integral member of the service/project/team to promote, co-ordinate and implement participation of all people in line with our Trust's People Participation strategy and the wider national participation agendas. They will be an active and valued contributor to the service/project/team, with a specific focus on participation, ensuring that the voices of service users, carers and families drive the design and development of services throughout our Trust.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will include planning, organising, coordinating and supporting meetings, groups, workshops and innovative events that people who have experienced our services and their carers or loved ones can participate in.

Encouraging partnership working opportunities in wider service improvement and design, maintaining a database of those who get involved.

Attendance and participation at system wide design meetings.

Monitoring service quality by actively gathering service user and carer experience. Providing feedback to service leads and reports to People Participation Lead, managers, clinicians and commissioners and via local Governance meetings.

Build relationships with internal stakeholders, including Specialist Services and CFYP Suffolk services to share learning and best practices.

Enabling experts by experience, their carers and loved ones to contribute the value of their lived experience in a meaningful way for service development and quality improvements.

Effective co-production in service development; involving experts by experience, their carers and loved ones in the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of service models.

Establish service user voice opportunities. Exploring and supporting ways that service users and their carers can be involved in training, service development and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in health and social care related subjected subject or equivalent level of knowledge.

Experience

Essential

  • Personal lived experience of accessing mental health services OR experience of supporting someone within this situation.
  • Working with service users and their families on a one to one basis and facilitation of groups and workshops
  • Providing participation related peer support and Experience of working within health or social care organisations providing mental health services. Application Form / Interview / References mentoring to other professionals.
