Job summary

Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary mental health liaison team?

We are seeking to recruit a Band 8B Practitioner Psychologist for the Mental Health Liaison Team at the James Paget University Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established multi-disciplinary team, which meets the standards of CORE-24 liaison services and aims to provide holistic care.

As well as providing specialist psychological input, the role involves supporting the team to further develop psychologically informed ways of working. There are also exciting opportunities in relation to service development, evaluation, and innovative approaches.

You will link in with the wider psychological professions network within the Care Group.

There are well established links with the UEA Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course, and the role will include supporting and supervising Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate team player, who enjoys working in a fast paced and often pressurised environment. You will be supported to develop into and fulfil this role and relevant CPD to support this will be available and encouraged. This includes access to funding for training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

HCPC Practitioner Psychologists from a Clinical, Counselling, Health or Forensic background can be considered, depending on relevant skills and experience.

Main duties of the job

You will lead on the delivery of psychological input and services to the mental health liaison team. Direct psychological input will include conducting specialist assessments, developing formulations and providing brief evidence-based interventions. You will also support the team to work in a psychologically-informed way, through joint working and the provision of training, case discussion / reflective practice sessions, and supervision.

The role also includes consultancy and liaison with other mental health services, including secondary care mental health teams and other acute services, such as the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team.

You will also be part of the Clinical Leadership of the team, working with the Consultant Psychiatrists and Clinical Team Leader to continue to develop the service and to work towards the goal of PLAN accreditation (Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network).

Through linking in with other services and working together with a consultant clinical psychologist, you will also have the opportunity to further develop therapeutic interventions within acute services, as part of psychologically-informed pathways. You will also contribute to the personality disorder strategy and the DBT programme
