Job summary
The Suffolk early help teams providing prevention and early intervention support to young people struggling with their mental health in primary care settings. They are appointing a number of Band 7 children & young people (CFYP) Primary Care Network (PCN) practitioners (Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, OTs & mental health nurses). In this role you will be working across a small number of GP practices in West Suffolk to support the mental health of young people. This is an amazing opportunity to join a new initiative which is part of the transformation of the primary care offer for young people's mental health. We need people with experience with young people's mental health; with excellent leadership, systems and communication skills who are passionate about bringing mental health support closer to families, young people and non-mental health professionals.

Primary Care Networks (PCNs) are groups of GP practices which work together in a local geographical area. In Suffolk there are 14 PCNs with a variety of different sizes, patient populations and mental health priorities.
Main duties of the job
On a day to day basis, PCN Practitioners will work as a member of GP practice extended teams, be based in practices (where possible subject to Covid) and also be part of under-18 wellbeing team for the West locality, made up of Clinical Psychologists, psychological therapists, PMHWs, mental health nurses, amongst other professions.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing advice, support, and treatment for young people under 18 experiencing problems with their mental health and wellbeing. You will collaboratively engage with the GP practices within the PCN and the PCN Practitioners to agree priorities for each local population. You will work closely with secondary care (CAMHS) and the early intervention teams. You will be passionate about supporting the development of mental health understanding in others, including the wider system.
We are looking to recruit Mental Health Nurses, Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Clinical Psychologists with an interest and experience in a mental health setting having worked with under 18's, to undertake the planning and delivery of direct patient care in West Suffolk. The equivalent East Suffolk post is advertised separately.

It is an ambition that all of these team members will be AMBIT trained in the coming year. You will receive clinical supervision from an 8b Principal Clinical Psychologist, who will work closely to provide the leadership for the new PCN roles.
