This is a wonderful opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist Band 8a (full time and part time opportunity) interested in perinatal mental health and wishing to develop specialist knowledge and practice in this rewarding field. We welcome applicants from trainee clinical psychologists who are in their final year of training so we can offer as Band 7 Preceptorship post.
The team are a county wide service currently operating from a number of bases in the East and West of the county and involves some opportunities for remote working

Main duties of the job
We are a countywide service, committed to improving the wellbeing of parents and their babies. We offer assessment and treatment to women with moderate to severe mental health difficulties who are either pregnant or within the first post-natal year (soon to be increasing to 24 months). You will be joining a newly established psychology team, consisting of two recently appointed 8b psychologists and an assistant psychologist that will soon be recruited. You will be supported to deliver formulation based and NICE recommended psychological interventions to women and their babies. This post would be suitable for anyone interested in models of adult mental health (such as CBT, systemic family therapy, IPT and CAT), transgenerational patterns of trauma, attachment, and infant mental health.
You shall contribute to the supervision, consultation and training of the MDT who consist of highly skilled and psychologically minded professionals and include perinatal mental health nurses, a psychiatrist, nursery nurses, peer support workers, a social worker, and an occupational therapist. Our team have very good working relationships with a wide range of primary and secondary care professionals, including midwives, health visitors, CAMHS and adult mental health services across Suffolk.

The Long-Term Plan for Mental Health sets out national and local ambitions to improve care for people in pregnancy through the first stages of the baby's life who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health difficulties.
One in five women experience post or ante natal depression, anxiety or in some cases psychosis, during pregnancy or in the first year after childbirth. Perinatal community mental health services provide specialist care for women (and their babies) with moderate to severe mental illness, such as bipolar disorder or severe depression. Our team aim to provide specialist care and early help to parents and babies to help with a range of perinatal issues including parent infant bonding. Members of our team are also involved in shaping trauma informed care in the perinatal period and thinking across wider services.
