Job summary
Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to further develop psychological services in a dynamic multi-disciplinary mental health liaison team?
We are seeking to recruit a Band 8A Practitioner Psychologist or Band 7 Preceptorship opportunity, to provide psychological input to the Mental Health Liaison Team at the James Paget University Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established multi-disciplinary team, which meets the standards of CORE-24 liaison services, and aims to provide holistic care, bridging the interface between physical and mental healthcare.
As well as providing specialist psychological input, the role involves supporting the team to develop psychologically informed ways of working. There are also opportunities in relation to service development and evaluation.
You will link in with the wider psychological professions network and you will work with and receive support from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who works across acute services.
HCPC Practitioner Psychologists from Clinical, Counselling, Health or Forensic backgrounds can be considered, depending on skills and experience.
The post could be appointed as a preceptorship for the right applicant wishing to develop from band 7, or could be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted. It is expected that transition to 8a will occur within two years, if competency criteria are met, as outlined in the Job Description, and in accordance with the Trust's Preceptorship Framework.
Main duties of the job
You will deliver and develop psychological services to the mental health liaison team. Direct input will include conducting specialist assessments, developing formulations and providing brief evidence-based interventions. You will also support the team to work in a psychologically-informed way, through joint working and the provision of training, case discussion / reflective practice sessions, and supervision.
The role also includes consultancy and liaison with other mental health services, including secondary care mental health teams and acute services.
Through linking in with other services and working together with a consultant clinical psychologist, you will also have the opportunity to further develop therapeutic interventions within acute services, as part of psychologically-informed pathways, such as the Complex Emotional Needs pathway.
There are well established links with the UEA Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course, and the role will include supervising Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement and possibly providing teaching and other support to the course.
We are looking for a motivated, compassionate team player, who enjoys working in a fast paced and pressurised environment and is able to build effective working relationships with other professionals. You will be supported to develop into and fulfil this role and relevant CPD to support this will be available and encouraged. For example, this could include training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
