Psychological Therapist

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a band 7 Psychological Therapist or a band 6 practitioner with a core profession who is currently undertaking an accredited therapy training to join our new and expanding intensive treatment team for child and adolescent eating disorders (The EDITT) team. This new service was launched in June 2022 at The Lighthouse Centre at Hellesdon Hospital.

Upon completion of the training and accreditation with the relevant professional body, the postholder will transition into a band 7 psychological therapist role.

Applicants must hold a qualification that leads to registration with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, UKCP, GMC, NMC or Social Work England) AND current registration with this professional regulatory body.

Ideally for this post we are looking for someone who has or is undergoing training in IPT/CAT/EMDR/DBT or Systemic therapy and/or practice. Art Therapists are invited to apply for this post if they have extended qualifications in a governed therapy (such as those previously mentioned). Evidence of continuing professional development is essential for this role as you will be working with patients with complex needs over a period of time. We are NOT looking and will not consider applicants with a purely CBT background as this is already established within the current team/service.

Main duties of the job

This developmental post will equip the post holder to provide therapy and work with Children and Young People accessing the intensive Eating Disorder service, who present with a range of complex needs. We are looking for applicants who have experience of managing a caseload as the successful candidate will be providing 1 to 1 patient interventions (including psychotherapeutic interventions and case management) and will be liaising with parents as appropriate.

Applications must be able to work independently but as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team. Band 7 practitioners take a lead role in the teams and as such need to present as a role model to colleagues and service users. A specific role in the team is to contribute towards individual/systemic formulations and to support colleagues as required on a day-to-day basis, including meal support.

Please note, although this post is open until xxx, if enough appropriate applications are received sooner we will close the post early.
