Complex Emotional Needs Clinical Lead - Band 8b HCPC Practitioner Psychologist - Full time

Post is equally split across Gateway House in Wymondham and Chatterton House in King's Lynn

Our community mental health services in West and South Norfolk have an exciting opportunity for a Complex Emotional Needs Clinical Lead to join their senior leadership team.

This is a key role and you will take a lead on service development, supervision and delivery within the expanding pathway. You'll be joining a care group where Psychology is already well-established and valued, with a supportive and proactive wider adult psychology team across community and acute settings.

Exciting community transformation projects are underway, and your focus will be the delivery of this vital pathway in the gap that sits between primary and secondary care.

You will be an HCPC accredited Practitioner Psychologist, with strong evidence for your passion, commitment, experience and expertise for working well with clients and MDT colleagues in this area. We are seeking someone who has a strong interest, or keen to develop competencies in Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Structured Clinical Management (SCM). If not trained in these approaches you would need to be willing to undertake these trainings, with full organisational support and funding.

Main duties of the job

You will have strong clinical skills in complex mental health and be able to evidence your interest in working with this client group. You will also have strong skills and interest in supporting multi-disciplinary colleagues with psychologically informed ways of working, through clinical supervision, consultation, formulation, training and reflective practice.

Your personal and professional characteristics will reflect those associated with working well with this client group - therapeutic optimism, a relational focus, a curious, collaborative, and genuine professional style, strong knowledge and understanding of factors associated with personality difficulties such as emotional instability, risk, trauma and dissociation.

You will develop the clinical leadership role for two "mini-teams" of 4-5 mental health practitioners and peer support workers, who will be training in SCM and then delivering this to service users within protected and dedicated time. One team is based in King's Lynn, West Norfolk and one in Wymondham, South Norfolk.

Our team has a wide range of specialist skills and interests are represented including personality difficulties, trauma and dissociation, psychosis, MBT, CBT, ACT, CAT, EMDR, Art Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and BFT. Regular training places are provided and you will have access to a dedicated CPD budget.

Our working environments are pleasant and supportive with, free car parking, shops and green spaces nearby. While some work is still being conducted remotely due to COVID, some attendance at base will be required. We welcome discussions about flexible and hybrid working.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the expansion and development of our existing and new pathways to support people with complex emotional needs- if you're looking for a new challenge in an innovative service, we would love to hear from you!
