8b Senior clinical psychologist/ family therapist Adult Eating Disorders

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist/family therapist to join us as in a full-time role in our cross county Adult Eating Disorders pathway. This is a new post, developed at a time when the pathway teams are expanding, both to meet the demands of the service, broaden the clinical expertise in our treatment offer and to support the ongoing alignment of our new model of working cross the county of Suffolk.

Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity for you to be part of an established pathway but to have the added benefit of making a significant impact on the shape of the service for the future. The pathway is undertaking significant development with the expansion of our teams with newly commissioned monies and development of pathways to include additional areas of practice including FREED, the use of ROMS, and our local MARSIPAN pathways. There are new posts within the wider pathway which includes CYP-ED and AED teams, so you will have significant opportunities to take a key role in this expansion.

Your continuing professional development will be supported. Supported to complete one of the HEE trainings such as CBT-E - one of the most effective treatments for eating disorders.

You will ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of all other psychologists within the pathway. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the team.

As a major requirement of the job, you will conduct training in specialist psychotherapies for staff as well as offering clinical supervision to all grades of staff. You will support the Service Manager/Clinical Lead and senior clinical team in providing clinical leadership and advice within the eating disorders pathway. This may include offering senior clinical cover for the service, responding to queries or FOI requests, undertaking complaints and serious incident investigations and 1:1 management supervision.

We have a strong culture of research and a continuous drive for improving quality, which you will be expected to lead on within the service. You will be expected to contribute to the running of the service and to lead on specific areas of clinical relevance.

We want to invest in you and your career, but also want to gain from your experience and innovations.

The post is working from bases in both East and West Suffolk (Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds), although you may be required to attend other sites as part of your role.

There will be the expectation to weigh and take blood pressure as part of treatment and you will receive the appropriate level of training in this which will include when to report on to other colleagues for further action.

Essential

  • Doctorate level qualification in Clinical Psychology as recognised by the BPS (or equivalent)
  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

Essential

  • Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people in this client group with a varying severity and complexity.
  • Experience of working with this client group and presenting problems including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
  • Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist and evidence of specialist knowledge gained through practice and ongoing training

Desirable

  • Representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts).

Skills
