Hi, Im Lucy, Clinical Psychologist, and I have been working on the Trauma Informed Services Project across Suffolk Childrens homes for the past 6 months. In this time, it has been incredible to be part of a new, and innovative project, where the emotional needs of children are being wholeheartedly held at the centre.
Its also wonderful to work with colleagues who are so keen and passionate about the project, improving the lives of the children they work with, and are wanting to be bold in integrating psychological ways of thinking and working into both their systems and practice.
The post is very lucky to be held within Suffolk Family Focus, a team of supportive and compassionate Psychologists, with varied experience, who all hold core shared values at the centre of our practice wed love you to join us!
Main duties of the job
- This is maternity cover for 12 months. The current postholder has been instrumental in establishing psychology and developing a trauma informed culture. We would love someone to continue this by;
- Working with practitioners across the 5 Suffolk county council homes to develop a trauma informed culture that provides the best preparation possible for young people to successfully transition to independence.
- Working with the childrens homes management team to embed psychologically and trauma informed culture in policy and everyday day practice.
- Facilitate reflective practice for the practitioners within the homes (already established)
- Following up on a baseline testing the temperature measure that was carried out to establish where practitioners were at regarding trauma informed practice.
- Excitingly, we are working with Miriam Silver (consultant psychologist) using a measure (BERRI) to better inform what the young people need.

Suffolk Family Focus Psychology service is a values driven service, with a team of psychologists from a range of backgrounds. SFF was established in 2013, with the aim of increasing access to psychologically-informed practice through consultation, training and direct work alongside staff from Early Help and Childrens Centres, Social Care and Children in Care teams. We are all about bringing psychology closer to the family. The service is highly valued locally and has been highlighted in the councils good Ofsted rating, placing Suffolk in the top 25% of local authorities across the country.
The post-holder will be supported by regular management and clinical supervision and access to a range of statutory and professional development training opportunities relevant to the role. You will be supported to develop your professional knowledge and skills through a network of psychologists and support services.
