Job summary

Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist - Part time - 18.75 hours per week

Offer effective clinical neuropsychological leadership within Tameside and Glossop Community Neuro Rehabilitation team.Provision of managerial and clinical supervision to other practitioner psychologists/assistant psychologists working within the team.Lead on the development of guidelines,policiesand pathways within the neuropsychology service.Working with local,regionaland national processes/guidelines in improving the lives of those affected by stroke/neurological injuries, as well as their carers/families.Ensuring effective partnership working with other statutory and third sector organisations, as well as ensuring the principals of co-design/production are utilised where appropriate.

Development of a highly specialist clinical neuropsychology pathway focusing on holding of a complex caseload and providing assessment, formulation and intervention relating to neuropsychological sequalae following stroke and neurological injury.Working as a key senior clinician supporting other practitioner psychologists and contributing to the wider MDT (including provision of training, supervision and consultation whererequired).

Main duties of the job

  • To provide highly developed specialist neuropsychological and psychological assessments of clientsreferred to the service, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the patient's care.

  • To arrive at a formulation and treatment plan for psychological intervention and/or management, where there are likely to be a range of options available, based uponan appropriate conceptualframework of the patient's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy. To have the ability to adjust and refine psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models andmaintaina number ofprovisional hypotheses.

  • To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment optionstaking into accountboth theoretical and therapeutic models andhighly complexfactors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual,familyor group.
