We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our friendly team as our new Critical Care and Theatres Pharmacist. This will constitute 50% of the role and for the remaining 50% you will join our Clinical Pharmacy team. With a new Chief Pharmacist, an ambitious 2 year departmental strategy and our Pharmacy robot being replaced; we are in a prime position to support you to become an outstanding Advanced Pharmacist in Critical Care and Theatres.

We would fully support you to undertake relevant post graduate training in your specialist field and also leadership training.

Participation in the extended hours, weekend, Bank Holiday and on-call service will be required.

Main duties of the job

This is a highly specialised post with significant autonomy in taking forward developments in Critical Care and Theatres including service delivery, specialist education and training, audit and research and development.

  • To deliver Clinical Pharmacy services to Critical Care and Theatres
  • To lead on the development of guidelines, regimens, policies and prescribing protocols for the Acute Trust/Outreach team and Critical Care and Theatres
  • To provide specialist Pharmaceutical advice and support in Critical Care and Theatres
  • To work with Advanced Clinical Pharmacist- Surgery/Trauma and Orthopeodics and those for General and Specialty Medicine to ensure robust medicines management governance throughout the Divisions and seamless transition
  • To produce reports and present clinical and financial information to the relevant specialty meetings and overarching Divisional meetings.

  • Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy (4 years) or recognised equivalent
  • Pre-registration training and experience
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Completed or undertaking a post-graduate diploma / MSc in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent experience)

Desirable

  • Independent Non-medical Prescribing Qualification (or commitment towards training for same)

  • Post registration experience (at least 2 years)
  • Working in a busy hospital (or equivalent documented clinical experience)
