Apprentice Clerical Officer - Apprentice Minimum Wage for Age
16 months fixed term apprentice
This is an ideal opportunity to learn within the work place; you will supported by a tutor to gain a Business and Administration qualification and if you have not already achieved Maths, English and ICT we will include Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications. The salary will be National Minimum Wage for Age, all placement and course fees will be paid for by the Trust over a fixed term contract for the duration of completion of the qualification; which will be a minimum of 16 months.
Previous hospital or administration experience is not required. However to be considered you must not hold a degree or a level 4 equivalent qualification, or be in current education. You need to be over 16 years old, be a resident in the UK/EU for the past 3 years, and be eligible to work in the UK.
Ideally the successful applicant would hold English and Maths GCSE A-C/ grade 4 and above or Level 2 Functional Skills or be willing to work towards achieving these grades alongside the apprenticeship.
The Apprentice post will be 37.5 hours Monday to Friday and will be based at Ann Street Clinic in Denton.
Main duties of the job
To support the multi-disciplinary team that comprises of registered nurses, health visitors, school nurses, and administration staff.
It is imperative that the successful candidate is able to follow processes and procedures and they must be meticulous in their approach. A key requirement of the role is for the successful candidate to be able to input data efficiently as this is a large part of the role. The successful candidate will also need to organise and plan their time accordingly, and be able to work under pressure.
As part of this role, the main form of communication is via email and telephone. The successful candidate will be required to respond to daily queries from internal and external organisations therefore applicants should be excellent communicators with good written skills. Excellent attention to detail is essential, together with the ability to work to deadlines. In addition it is a necessity that applicants have a good standard of typing and IT skills.

This role will be working within the Community Administration service for Tamesideand GlossopIntegrated Care Organisation.
All staff who work within the Community Administration service abide by the Trust Values and demonstrate these through their behaviours on a daily basis. Staff within the service are passionate about excellent customer service in order to support individual patients through their journey of care.
TheCared for Childrens Team is based at Ann Street Clinic in Denton and the Administration function is made up of three Clerical Officers and an Administrator. The team work exceptionally well together and offer day to day support to one another in order to ensure the service runs as efficiently as possible. Team members all have individual skills, experience and qualities which collaboratively contribute to the team being successful in providing an excellent administration service.
The designated person will provide full clerical support to the Health Care Professional teams based in community settings therefore they must be conversant with all of the services offered within Community Healthcare.
The Cared for Childrens office is a busy environment and the tasks you will be required to undertake will vary therefore no one day will be the same. It requires an enthusiastic, competent, hardworking and proactive person to work within the department. It also requires someone who is able to deal with sensitive information in a confidential manner.The post holder will be familiar with a full range of clerical tasks and be able to undertake specific duties. The post holder will have a variety of IT skills to be able to use spreadsheets, word processing, e-mails and basic keyboard skills. General office management skills such as filing/management of records and switchboard/telephone duties will also be expected. Data inputting and attention to detail is also key for this role.
The post holder will be undertaking tasks requiring strict confidentiality and they will be expected to use the patient administration system.
Good communication skills are required to deal with enquiries to the department by telephone or email. It is important that the post holder is able to communicate effectively and maintain good relationships with patients, medical professionals and other departments across the healthcare setting and other outside agencies.
A requirement of the role is to be able to organise and plan own day to day workload or activities in order to meet the demands of the job role. The post holder is expected to use their initiative to a significant level and work without direct supervision. Team working key as well as being able to work to tight deadlines.
Due to the nature of the work, the Apprentice Clerical Officer must be able to prioritise, as frequent interruptions can be expected from the public and professionals.
