Practice Education & Development Lead School Nurse - 37.5 hours, Permanent
To work within a locality-based School Nursing team as a caseload-holding School Nurse, as well as leading practice education and development for the locality, within the School Nursing discipline.

Main duties of the job
- Take responsibility for, have oversight of and provide leadership to ensure that practice education and learning needs are identified and met within the locality. This includes the needs of pre-registration nursing students, post-registration SCPHN students, and other learners
- To liaise with the educational institutions responsible for SCPHN-SN education to ensure that students receive a current and coordinated approach to their learning.
- To provide leadership within the locality for practice development, and lead on and contribute to service-wide practice development projects.
- To be a role model, demonstrating the highest standards of professional behavior and practice

Additional to the role of caseload-holding School Nurse
-As the practice education lead within the School Nursing locality, take responsibility for, have oversight of and provide leadership to ensure that practice education and learning needs are identified and met within the locality. This includes:
-Practice supervision and assessment of SCPHN SN students / apprentices, which involves liaising and collaborating with the university
-Practice supervision and assessment of pre-registration nursing students
-Practice supervision and assessment of SNs / Staff Nurses in building competencies in Practice Assessor and Supervisor roles
-Supervision and mentorship of newly qualified / return to practice School Nurses
-Supervision and assessment of other students where necessary
-Supporting new members of staff to SN teams, including working with the HCP Team Leader to identify their training needs
-Have oversight of all student placements in the locality, delegating and organising placements to ensure that students are correctly placed so that their learning needs are met.
-Support the HCP Team Leaders and Clinical Pathway Lead in identifying, co-ordinating and meeting the learning and development needs of SN teams across the locality and the Trust, to ensure the service in line with local and national public health priorities and directives.
-The practice education leadership role involves working closely with the HCP Team Leader, the Practice Education Facilitator, and the Clinical Service Lead.
-Liaise closely with Practice Education and Development Leads in other Tameside localities across health visiting and school nursing services
-Engage in recruitment processes within the locality and across the service, particularly with reference to SCPHN SN students / apprentices.
-Teach specialist practice post basic students as a significant part of the job, and be responsible for training and assessment of all practice elements in this field. Assess the students competency and mark their practice using the Universitys practice assessment criteria as the benchmark (at levels 6 and 7).
-Participate in curriculum development planning in collaboration with the university.
-Provide leadership within the locality for evidence-based practice development, identifying practice development needs and opportunities, leading on and contribute to service-wide practice development projects, and contributing to in-service training and dissemination of information.
