Healthcare Assistant- Ward 42 Band 2 Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Health Care Assistant to join the team on Ward 42 at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care Foundation Trust.
Ward 42 is a 30 bedded unit comprising of patients mainly with gastro related issues.
Successful candidates will be provided with a full induction, including orientation to the ward.
Duties include a combination of days, nights and weekends in order to meet the needs of our patients and ensure we provide a fair and equal working environment for the whole team.
We are looking for talented individuals who are committed to working as part of our healthcare team delivering an excellent, caring service to patients.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the team to work on Ward 42.
The post holder must be willing to learn & develop, work on their own initiative & as part of a team, good time management and organisational skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work under the direct supervision of registered health care professional and assist the healthcare team with personal care delivery of a defined group of patients and a range of clinical duties/ tasks, always ensuring that actions taken are undertaken by the individual following appropriate training and within their sphere of competence.

- Prepare individual patients and the environment to ensure effective movement and/or handling procedures to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Assist in the care of patients skin integrity by observing pressure areas and undertaking actions as appropriate to prevent pressure ulcers, escalating concerns to the Registered Healthcare Professional in a timely manner, recording and maintaining relevant documentation as directed.
- Assist in the duties relating to last offices for deceased persons as required. Ensure that all religious and cultural wishes, obligations are adhered to.
- When necessary, initiate and assist with basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation procedures.
- At the delegation of the Registered Healthcare Professional, transfer the patient from one care area to another, i.e. to discharge lounge/ another ward.
- Assist in providing conditions to meet the patients need for rest and sleep.
