Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Fit Tester

Job summary
Are you passionate about keeping frontline staff safe and ensuring high standards of infection prevention? Do you have experience in FFP3 mask fit testing, or are you looking to develop a new and valuable skill? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity.
We are looking to recruit one RPE Fit Tester to join our friendly and proactive IPC Team, covering the Greater Manchester area.
You'll receive accredited training and all the necessary equipment to carry out the role. Using TSI PortaCount machines, you will perform fit testing to ensure staff are fitted correctly with FFP3 masks. You will also support staff in completing regular checks on their powered respiratory hoods and carry out audits on NWAS stations and vehicles as part of the wider IPC remit.
Main duties of the job
What we're looking for:We're seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and organised individual who:
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Has excellent communication and IT skills
- Is confident working with frontline clinicians
- Can manage their workload under the supervision of an IPC Practitioner
- Has a full driving licence, access to a car and is willing to obtain business insurance to travel across NWAS sites
Role details:
- Full-time (37.5 hours per week): The Majority of work will be Monday to Friday
- Flexibility: There may be occasional requirements to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on service demand
- Primary duties: Conducting face fit testing across Greater Manchester and completing audits on stations and vehicles
- Admin time: One day per week working from home or an office base for administrative tasks
- Office base: Located in Greater Manchester
- Travel: Regular travel across local sites, with occasional support to other NWAS regions if needed

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
