As part of our commitment to Outstanding Education in Driver Training, we are looking to recruit Driving Instructors (Educators) to our exceptional dynamic Driver Training Team.
Are you ready to join our exceptional driver training team at NWAS then we would like to hear from you. We are looking to recruit L4 DERADI qualified driving instructors who will undertake a development programme to become fully qualified as an Emergency Response Ambulance Driving Instructor. Successful applicants will be responsible for the delivery of driver education and training across all regions of the North West Ambulance Service.
The unique role will require the successful applicants to deliver driver education and training, including High Speed Driving Regulations check tests, Emergency Response Driving, Rapid Response Vehicle and Patent Transport Service driver training (when Approved Driving Instructor qualified) across all respective areas. It is expected that for effective delivery, the role will include some work activity outside of normal working hours. The role will also include supporting the delivery of all types of driver training and assessment within the education and training field, from new staff inductions to external training.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited from candidates that meet either of the following criteria;
- Candidates who hold the L4 DERADI qualification, a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor qualification would be desirable though not essential as training would be provided.- Existing emergency response driving instructors from a statutory service who are willing to work towards L4DERAD, who may, or may not, hold a valid DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) qualification.
Candidates must possess a recognised training/teaching qualification. Certificate in Education & Training (CET) or equivalent e.g Cert. Ed/CTTLS and a Certificate in Assessing Vocational Assessment (CAVA) or equivalent e.g. D32 & D33 or A1.
All applicants must possess a valid and current UK driving licence including C1 entitlement, for a minimum of 3 years; a maximum of 3 penalty points is permitted.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a high level of communication and organisational skills. Individuals must also be willing to take a flexible approach to their work patterns to meet training demands. During the development to qualify as a driving instructor there is a potential that you will attend courses which may require travel or overnight stays on occasion.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In this case individuals will be on a training contract of employment under Annex 21 A4C T&C 70% of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate. Training must take no longer than 2 years to complete.
