North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust

Innovation Consultant - Clinical

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly organised clinician to join our Innovation and Development team as a Clinical Innovation Consultant.

There is x1 full time position available, which is focused on the clinical and operational delivery of the new point of care (POC) troponin pilot in Greater Manchester.

The project aims to improve emergency ambulance efficiency for acute chest pain patients with a suspected heart attack by implementing T-MACS and pre-hospital Point-of-care troponin testing. This will enable paramedics to accurately identify patients that may be suffering from a heart attack and to transport them to the most appropriate location for further treatment and care. This aims to expedite treatment, reduce secondary ambulance transfers, and free up ambulances. This approach aligns with the overarching goal of transforming healthcare to improving patient outcomes and optimising healthcare resource utilisation. It will have a huge positive impact in reducing unnecessary ambulance services whilst ensuring rapid response for those who need them and giving safe reassurance to others.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be uniquely placed to combine their clinical knowledge, digital interests and innovation skills to guide and influence current and emerging ventures. The candidate will possess excellent communication and engagement skills together with a passion for digitalisation and improvement relating to solving everyday basics and delivering on large complex operational and strategic programmes.

The successful candidate will join a small team of designers, solution developers, technical architects, and evaluation experts to deliver digital and clinical innovation across the trust and wider NHS network.
