An opportunity has arisen for a Motor vehicle technician to work as part of the Fleet Maintenance Department for the North West Ambulance Service. This is part of the shift system and is set out on a two shift pattern to cover seven days per week, working within the hours of (7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday and 7:00am to 6:00pm Sat and Sun)
We have one vacancy within the Cheshire and Mersey area and will be based at the Regional Logistics Centre in Haydock.
Main duties of the job
You will play a key role in the maintenance of the Trust's fleet of ambulances, operational vehicles and the work is wide and varied alongside the duties of driving.
Driving / ferrying vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes gross weight as required, carrying out roadside recovery and collection on NWAS vehicles.
Collection and drop off of vehicle / garage items for workshops.
Ensuring general upkeep and minor repairs and maintenance of workshop equipment and premises.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
