Job summary
The Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS) is expanding its clinical workforce by introducing a new Advanced Practitioner role open to suitably experienced Nurses and Paramedics.
The post provides an opportunity for motivated Paramedics and Nurses to be involved in the Trusts new delivery model. Rotating between the Clinical Hub providing telephone triage to NWAS patients and responding from designated NWAS sites to patients who have the potential to be treated at home following your initial telephone consultation. You will be responding in a non-emergency vehicle.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is an experienced Paramedic or Nurse, who acting within their professional boundaries will provide enhanced clinical decision making to support pathways of care to lower acuity patients both through telephone consultation and face to face assessment. You will ensure the delivery of excellent patient care through the continuous achievement of high clinical standards. You will work autonomously and support patients within our community. You will be expected to undertake relevant research and development activities. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to peers within your role.
The role is open to Paramedics and Nurses with HCPC or NMC Registration who are able to meet the requirements of the job description and person specification. Please note that this post is not suitable for NQP Paramedics or a New qualified nurse.

Essential
- Registered Paramedic with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (UK).
- DipHE/FDg in Nursing (Nurse applicants).
- DipHE/FDg in Paramedic Sciences or equivalent healthcare qualification (Paramedic applicants).
- Level 7 (or working towards) in Health Assessment
- Level 5 or 6 HEI module in Minor injury/illness or equivalent.
- Level 5 or 6 HEI module in mentoring or equivalent.
