In order to provide effective and resilient support to NWAS Critical Systems (both in and out of office hours), NWAS needs to ensure that the right IT support is available in the Right Place, at the Right Time, Every Time.
A position has become available within the NWAS IT Team as a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer due to an internal promotion.
As a part of the Trusts Infrastructure team, the 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer will be working within the Infrastructure Team to maintain and manage the existing telecommunications solutions and all future developments.
You will be considered an escalation point for both the service desk and our 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineers regarding all telecommunications quires and issues as they arise.
Main duties of the job
The 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer will work with the specialist teams and the Service Desk to maintain telecommunications systems to meet the needs of our changing digital landscape, focusing on Business-as-usual work and ensuring the various systems in your charge are available at all times. You will also be responsible for managing alerts as they come into the system and maintain the high level of patching required for both security and operational requirements.
Suitable candidates will already have some experience in maintaining telephony and network systems, preferably within a health care or emergency environment at either a 3rd or 2nd line position.
Regular travel in your own vehicle may be required across the Northwest and occasionally nationally (subject to Agenda for Change terms and conditions) whilst a reduction in unnecessary journeys via the use of technology will be actively encouraged.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
