Job summary

Main duties of the job

Agenda for Change - Band 6 -£35,392.00-£37,350.00 per annum plus unsocial hours payment dependent on rota and hours worked in line with Section 2 of Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Essential

  • Registered Paramedic with the Health and Care Professionals Council
  • Successfully completed an IHCD Paramedic Training Programme or a recognised Higher Education Paramedic qualification.2
  • Completed two year consolidation of learning programme in an ambulance trust, if appointed on/after 1st September 2016

Knowledge / Experience/ Skills / Abilities

  • Hold a valid EU Driving License (No more than 3 endorsement points. In exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered)
  • C1 Category entitlement
  • Good verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate across wide demographic boundaries in an appropriate manner, including where there are barriers to understanding
  • Displays good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate the ability and commitment to providing high quality patient care, appropriate to patient needs
  • Able to operate all appropriate information systems in an efficient and effective manner relevant to this post
  • Able to operate all equipment safely and in accordance with Trust policy, procedures and protocols
  • Respects and applies patient confidentiality at all times

  • Good attendance record
