Job summary

Main duties of the job

Working with our specialist sustainability and estates team, you'll gain a broad range ofexperience in all aspects of energy and carbon management as well as further developingyour skills through the completion of the Junior Energy Managers Level 3 apprenticeship.The projects you get involved in and the breadth of learning you get access to will be broadranging and sector leading, supporting NWAS to meet energy and cost reduction objectivesand targets within the context of wider sustainability commitments, such as carbon and watermanagement and social value.You'll gain a broad range of technical knowledge and skills such as understanding theeconomics of energy consumption, environmental and regulatory requirements relevant toenergy and climate change as well as hands-on activities such as conducting energy andwater audits. With your new skills and knowledge, you will help drive behaviour change onthe ground, shifting energy usage and the wider teams' perspective of energy consumption.As well as working on-site, you will spend one day a week studying towards yourapprenticeship and be part of a wider NHS cohort of energy apprentices as well as havingregular contact and support from your dedicated tutor and your line manager.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.

We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Willing to work towards completion of a level 3 junior energy manager apprenticeship
  • GCSE grade 4-9 in English Literature or Language and in Mathematics or equivalent qualifications

Desirable

  • Mathematics or Science based A-Level
