Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised systems developer to join our development team. The successful applicant will be an experienced web application developer, with a flair for gathering complex systems requirements across a non-technical multidisciplinary team. They will join a small team of systems developers, technical architects, analysts and consultants in supporting the work of one of the UKs largest ambulance services.

The post holder will support development in the following:

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Senior Systems Developer in the design, development, implementation, support and maintenance on a variety of key Trust projects that align to the Digital Strategy and Strategy for Urgent and Emergency Care.

The role will be focused on the digitisation of several manual processes, leveraging the full benefits from existing systems as well as developing solutions in house that are fit for purpose, fully integrated and compatible with the vision for digitally enabled healthcare.

About us

The post-holder will provide high quality IT and data-driven solutions to support the flow of quality data and information to support the objectives of the workforce management project over the next 12 months. Engagement, design, development, implementation, maintenance, support and management of information architectures (IA) are activities key to this role.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • Educated to higher degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area

Desirable

  • A Master's degree or equivalent in relevant subject area.
  • ITIL Foundation Accredited.
  • Evidence of further development and or education and training.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Experience in the use of the visual studio IDE for developing applications, PHP 7.0 or higher and ASP.NET.
  • Experience of front-end web development using HTML, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript, bootstrap.
  • Experience and knowledge of agile application development methodologies.
  • Experience in using tools to validate CSS and XHTML and cross browser testing to ensure adherence to relevant guidelines.
  • Experience of designing and building scalable and secure systems.
  • Knowledge of web security and experience building secure websites.
  • Experience of relational database design and programming using SQL.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining large scale Relational Database systems utilising Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience of Microsoft SQL Reporting Services and Integration services.
  • Experience of using business analytics tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience of building applications in an environment to support our continuous integration and deployment.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Expert knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft .NET architecture and Microsoft technology stack.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing and coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
  • Comprehensive knowledge of agile project principles, techniques and tools.
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting.
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and explaining highly complex issues to SMT, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of the public sector.
