Highly Specialist Neonatal Physiotherapist

Job summary

Fixed Term - Part-time 26.15 hours per week.

Due to maternity leave, an opportunity has arisen for dedicated neonatal physiotherapy time to work within the Bolton Foundation NHS Trust Neonatal Unit.

We are looking for an experienced,motivated and proactive team player with excellent communication skills to undertake this highly specialist role. The successful applicant will work as a key member of the neonatal MDT team and will be working in an inpatient setting on the neonatal unit and conducting outpatient clinics.

Main duties of the job

  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.

  • To attendappropriate wardrounds and multidisciplinary meetingsin order toprovideexpert advice to the multi-disciplinary team regarding provision of highly specialist neurodevelopmental,musculoskeletaland respiratory support and advice based on clinical evidence.

  • To independently undertake comprehensive, highly specialist neurodevelopmental assessment and treatment of infants, including those with complex presentations; encompassing any musculoskeletal or respiratory presentations that fall under scope of practice.

  • To advise the neonatal team and support parents on the optimisation of neurodevelopmental outcomes, through positioning,handlingand awareness of the neuroprotective environment.

  • To work with the neonatal team to promote the establishment ofFiCareand developmental care with all babies on the Unit

  • To make recommendations to the neonatal teamregardingadaptation of positioning to optimise development and aid airway clearance management.

Qualifications and Professional Registration

Essential

  • Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • CPD relevant to Neonatal

Desirable

  • Relevant NHS physiotherapy experience including neonatal
  • Recognised post-graduate qualifications
  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Association of Paediatric Physiotherapists
  • Registered on the APCP Neonatal Physiotherapist database of practice of specialist interest

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Relevant postgraduate Physiotherapy NHS clinical experience, inclusive of neonatal care
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of assessment and interventions/approaches in neonatal care.

Desirable

  • Relevant management experience
  • Experience of neonatal assessment and treatment
  • Previous band 7 experience
  • Respiratory Physiotherapy experience
