Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner Hepatology

Job summary

We are looking for a trainee advanced clinical practitioners to join the Gastroenterology and Hepatology service based at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join us and to deliver high quality care across an ever developing specialist service.

We will support you to excel in your autonomous practice within our dynamic fast paced teaching environment. With the support of our consultant and ACP team you will be expected to develop a full portfolio in line with the HEE credentials, whilst attaining a full MSc in advanced clinical practice.

Working as part of the clinical team you will be trained to see the full range of Gastroenterology and Hepatology conditions within a consultant lead service. We are confident that we can help you to achieve your potential as a clinician within our service.

This post will develop to a Band 8a upon completion of a Masters pathway in Advanced Clinical Practice, and completion of an Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification. The post holder will also be required to undergo a wide range of core clinical competencies and case presentations within the area of practice. The Trainee will need to demonstrate completion of all clinical and academic practice before progression to Band 8a isachieved within a set timeframe.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working within an acute and/or surgical setting. Ideally candidates would have some Gastroenterology/ Hepatology knowledge/experience. They will need to show a willingness and aptitude to learn and develop. They will need to be self-motivated with a desire to improve patient care through application of advanced clinical skills and knowledge, as well as leadership, education and research skills and in line with national standards.

  • Registered with Valid NMC or HCPC registration with relevant clinical experience.
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge of Gastroenterology
  • Evidence of clinical / managerial leadership experience.
  • Experience of change management or service improvement activity.
  • Experience within Hepatology, acute medicine, frailty and/or general medicine.

Desirable

  • Experience of training, supervising and assessing competence of junior colleagues.

Education

Essential

  • Registration (NMC/HCPC)
  • Recent level 6 or 7 study
  • Ability to complete a 2 year Master's programme.

Desirable

  • Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
  • IRMER certification.
  • Recognised Leadership qualification and/or relevant experience.

  • High standard of written and verbal communication

  • Extended Procedures ( ascitic taps)
