An exciting opportunity has arisen within our maternity service for a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Midwife. You will be working as part of the Diabetes in Pregnancy multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Diabetes Midwife, you willprovide high quality, safe midwifery care to women and their families whose pregnancy is complicated by Diabetes. You will have an interest in the care of women with Diabetes in pregnancy and keen to develop a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills, which you will use to manage, develop and lead care for pregnant women and new mothers with additional needs.
You will provide direct client care and be responsible for providing extra support and care to women whose pregnancy is complicated by Diabetes in partnership with the named Diabetes Specialist Lead Midwife, and the Diabetes in Pregnancy multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.
You will work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs, providing a link between the maternity service and other services involved in diabetes care.
You will also assist the Diabetes Specialist Lead Midwife to ensure that high standards of quality care are delivered and maintained for women with diabetes and may need to deputise for the Band 7 DSM as required.
You will be expected to promote the use of quality improvement methods by frontline staff in order to deliver measurable improvements in patient care.
You will act as a resource of Diabetes specialist knowledge to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
