Job summary
Full time 37.5 hours per week. Fixed term contract for 12 months or Secondment.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Cancer Team, who assists, supports and co-ordinates the pathway for patients from the diagnostic phase. The successful applicant will ensure the efficient channelling and close co-ordination of the patient pathway ensuring robust communication between Consultants, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Cancer MDT Co-ordinators GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other disciplines.

Main duties of the job
The post involves working closely with all key members of the multidisciplinary team within primary and secondary care and service users relating to cancer to ensure all patients receive a consistent and effective service:
- Clinical Lead for Site Specific Cancer
- Medical, nursing and multi-disciplinary teams
- Outpatient departments (OPD), appointment booking centre, radiology, pathology.
- Other pathway navigators
- Clinical team secretaries
- GP Practices.

Essential
- 5 GCSE's including Maths & English at grade C or equivalent
- Level 3 Health or Social Care qualification (e.g. NVQ or similar)
- ECDL or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Level 4 Health or Social Care qualification (e.g. foundation degree)
- Basic counselling
Knowledge & experience
Essential
- Relevant Health or Social Care experience
- Computer literate, with full knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology
Desirable
- Previous medical secretarial experience
- Experience of co-ordinating a patient workload
