Job summary

Here at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust we are looking for a Divisional Director of Operations for our Family Care Division.

As the accountable officer for the Division, this post is a senior managerial role, requiring candidates to have demonstrable experience in similar roles across a range of healthcare services.

The Family Care Division offers huge potential for personal professional growth for the right candidate. The Division provides wide and diverse services for adults and children across Bolton and beyond, and your leadership will help develop those services to provide the best possible care for our patients and their families.

The Divisions aim is to deliver the highest standards of care in maternity, neonates sexual health, gynaecology and a range of acute and community children's services. This includes hospital and community based children's clinical services, 0-19 Public Health Nursing, Paediatric Allied Health Professionals and Paediatric Learning Disability.

More than 6,000 babies are delivered under our care and we carry out around 1,500 gynaecological procedures each year. We're also proud to havea tertiary level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, enabling 1 in 4 women across Greater Manchester to receive in-utero transfer and birth at extreme premature gestation at Bolton. We provide a level 2 Paediatric High Dependency service working in collaboration with GM Acute paediatric services.

The Family Care Division provide care and support in community for children and families across Bolton from birth through to adulthood, offering a range of holistic and developmental support and input throughout their young lives in partnership and collaboration with statutory and voluntary sector partners, to achieve the best outcomes for our children, young people and families.

Main duties of the job

As accountable officer for the division you will be responsible for safe, effective and high quality delivery of all services within your Division. You will do this through creating great places to work, where all colleagues can belong and thrive. You will ensure that your services and inclusive and accessible to all of the population we serve. You will also deliver this within a balanced budget, delivering cost efficiencies as required.

You will manage and work alongside the Divisional Nurse Director and Divisional Medical Director as a triumvirate to lead your Divisional teams to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, efficient and effective patient care across the Division.

You will report to the Director of Operations and be accountable to the Chief Operating Officer.

The Divisional Director of Operations (DDO) is a key senior management and senior leadership position with the responsibility and accountability to manage, develop, direct and lead service improvement and performance strategies and policies to ensure delivery of high quality, safe, efficient and effective patient care in the Division.

The DDO is responsible for the all performance delivery within the Division. As such the DDO is required to ensure that there are suitable programmes for developing and implementing performance management strategies, implementation of business development, and planning and commercial development strategies which are consistent with the Trust's need for business efficiency, effectiveness, flexibility, value for money, high staff morale and improving patient care.

This roles responsibility includes the day-to-day management of all the services within the job remit through the clinical staff and managers. This includes staff management, service delivery, service improvement, clinical governance, financial control and delivery of cost improvement programmes and workstreams within the Turnaround Plan.

The DDO will be responsible for coordinating operational plans for the management team that reflect the Trusts strategic direction.

All senior leaders are expected to work as part of a cohesive team and, when necessary, to take lead responsibility for corporate issues outside their immediate sphere of responsibility in order to achieve the corporate objectives of the Trust.
