Job summary

Full time 37.5 hours per week, permanent post.

Exciting Opportunity to join our wonderful, Dynamic team in Ophthalmology. the post holder will work in the clinical area under supervision of a Registered nurse or independently within own scope of practice as a Nurse Associate. The Nurse Associate will work as a member of the department team, delivering nursing and clinical care to patients in line with NA competency framework set by the NMC and stock care and maintenance.

Main duties of the job

  1. Act as patient's advocate in promoting, and delivering the highest standard of nursing care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current, relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.
  2. Using evidence-based practice, assess patients' physical, psychological and spiritual needs, create care plans, implement and evaluate nursing care involving patients and carers, as appropriate.
  3. Write reports, record observations and maintain care plans, including electronic data storage; and other appropriate records, accurately, legibly and concisely.
  4. Monitor patients' condition and report observations to relevant health professionals, carrying out nursing interventions as needed. Reporting signs of deterioration to Registered Nurse as appropriate.
  5. Keep patients and carers informed, when appropriate maintaining patient confidentiality
  6. Care for a group of patients, as allocated by the manager.
  7. Comply with Trust policy for management and administration of medicines.
  8. Comply with policies for the correct disposal of clinical and other waste, sharps, and soiled linen.
  9. Clean and disinfect equipment as needed.
  10. Help to prevent the spread of infection by adopting infection control measures appropriate to the situation, and participate in educating staff, patients and carers.
  11. Co-ordinate team members and technicians in Glaucoma Suite
