We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Upper GI cancer nurse to join our existing skilled nursing team within a comprehensive MDT offering care for patients referred with suspected Oesophago-gastric GI cancer.
We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and reliable individual. The successful candidate, in partnership with the other existing post holder, will have a key leadership specialist role at a senior level to support the organisation in the delivery of the diagnostic pathway.
In addition, you will play a fundamental role in leading collaboratively on the development and effective delivery of the Upper GI cancer & HPB nursing service to reflect the evolving health care agenda developing and maintaining robust working relationships across primary, secondary and tertiary care to ensure a coordinated patient pathway.
The post holder will hold well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and should also possess good facilitation and IT skills. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team, having excellent clinical skills to deliver exceptional standards of care for all patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
The Upper GI Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for the provision and development of a high quality, cost effective specialist Upper GI and HPB cancer nursing service that meets the needs of patients in accordance with national and local policies and initiatives.
Work autonomously to assess plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence based nursing care.
Demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills to ensure patients are seen within the required time frame.
Ensure and advise on the appropriateness of investigation of patients who may by suitable for treatment of Upper GI & HPB cancers or best supportive care.

The post holder will work within a well established Cancer Services Team. There will be an expectation to work as a core member of the Speciality Term linking with relevant wards and departments within the organisation.
